Transfer Advisors Reach Out

May 28

After completing the modules, you should have a good idea of courses to take in your major and whether you need to take math, foreign language, General Education and elective courses. You will be assigned an academic advisor in your major, who will reach out to you through your JMU email starting May 28 to offer support as you choose courses and prepare to enroll. Please do not contact your advisor before that; they will be busy supporting current students as the semester ends. If you have questions related to academic advising before then, email the JMU Transfer Advising Team. If you have completed all previous steps, you can begin enrolling in classes on June 5. Learn more on Page 10. In the meantime, don’t worry about availability if some of the courses you need are closed. We hold seats for transfer students in many classes.

Transfer Credit Report As you prepare for transfer enrollment, you should review your Transfer Credit Report and your Academic Requirements Report in MyMadison. Knowing the courses you received credit for and the requirements satisfied by those courses will assist you in conversa- tions with your advisor.

It’s time to plan for your first semester of classes at JMU! You can learn about the requirements for a degree by working through the first-semester enrollment modules for transfer students. There are six modules that contain many details spe- cific to your degree and major, so please allow yourself plenty of time to review them before the step deadline.

Housing Search

Off Campus Looking for off-campus housing? Follow Off-Campus Life’s advice to obtaining housing in Harrisonburg. 1. Determine which living arrangement best suits your personality. Are you interested in rooming with a group of students or is living solo your first choice? Be honest with yourself. 2. Check the OCL website, or call 540-568-6071 to search for places to live and connect with other JMU students who are looking for roommates. 3. List at least three places to visit and make an appointment to tour the property. If you are looking for a roommate, most property owners will be happy to help place you with another JMU student.
