What is the Student Leadership Center? The Student Leadership Center is a place for all JMU students to engage in experiences for improving their leadership skills, find resources for improving their own abilities as a leader, and check out equipment and materials that can be used in a wide variety of leadership development experiences. What goes on in the Student Leadership Center? The staff of the Student Leadership Center strives to help students become better leaders so they can create a better world. We provide skill building sessions on how to have difficult conversations, ways to improve emotional intelligence as a student leader, personal development of personality and confidence in leadership roles, personal life management and prioritization as well as many, many other topics. Individualized leadership coaching, leadership books, videos, and equipment are all available to every student, as well. Our goal is to help JMU students become engaged leaders, who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and personal confidence necessary to change the world around them. Is MYMOM part of the Student Leadership Center? The MYMOM program is a part of the Student Leadership Center. This 10-week leadership development experience is designed specifically for first and second-year students. Weekly guest lectures, breakout group discussions, and personal reflection provide an avenue for every student participant to strengthen their personal values, increase their involvement at JMU, and develop their full potential. How do I find out more or get involved? All students are welcome in the Student Leadership Center, located in the Union, Warren Hall, room 330. Stop by and come hang out any time!
