Residential Learning Communities are groups of 15-150 first-year students who live in the same residence hall and who are enrolled in the same section(s) of one, two or three academic courses. What are the different types of Residential Learning Communities? • Arts (for visual and performing arts students) • Haynes Scholar (Students who identify as Black, Indigenous American, Latinx/Hispanic, Pacific Islander, first generation or as part of other underrepresented groups in STEM fields) • Honors Living Learning Center (for Honors students) • Environment and Sustainability (for student in any major interested in exploring environmental problems and solutions) • Leadership (for students in any major who are interested in personal leadership development in college) • Madison Biz (for College of Business majors) • Madison International (for any major, especially for students interested in learning about intercultural global and local issues) • Roop (for pre-k-12 education majors) • Sports and Recreation Learning Community (for SRM majors) • Trelawny (for biology and biotechnology majors) For more details about each community, please visit the website. How do students join a Residential Learning Community? Students must apply to be members of Residential Learning Communities. They should apply online when they complete their housing contract. The deadline is May 15. What are the benefits to living in a Residential Learning Community? As a member of a Learning Community, you will get to live and learn in the same place and have: • Intentional interaction with faculty members
