Public Transportation Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation (HDPT) bus service is available free of charge to all JMU students, faculty and staff. The latest bus schedules are available for viewing and download at the HDPT website (hdpt.com). Schedules are also available in The Union, Festival and on all HDPT routes. The myStop app for mobile devices is the best way to get real-time updates on bus locations, stops and arrival times. The app is available for download free of charge at the App Store and the Google Play store. What are my options for getting to campus? Information on campus transportation options is available on the Alternative Transportation at JMU website, above. In addition to HDPT campus and city bus transit, the site features information about parking, bike routes and other methods students can use to reach their destination. The site is updated regularly to reflect changes to transportation services. What transportation options are available to get home? The Transportation at JMU website has information about a variety of options available to students for going home or reaching numerous other destinations both in Virginia and out of state. A few examples of regional transportation options include: • Regional and Break Shuttles o Shuttle services such as Virginia Breeze, College Transit, OurBus and BreakShuttle provide transportation from the JMU campus on weekends and during breaks. Routes are available to destinations in Virginia, as well as to Washington, D.C., Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania. Students can also use shuttle services to transfer to regional train stations or airports. • Blue Ridge Community College Shuttle o The BRCC shuttle, operated by Brite Transit (britebus.org), provides daily service between Staunton, Weyer’s Cave and JMU. The shuttle arrives at JMU at the Godwin Transit Center and is free to students. By riding the BRCC shuttle to Staunton, students can access the Amtrak train station to reach additional destinations. • Shenandoah Regional Airport o The Shenandoah Regional Airport is served by United Express, which has daily flights to and from Washington Dulles and Chicago O’Hare airports. In addition to free parking on site, the airport offers advanced reserved van service to and from Harrisonburg.
