What is the Office of Parent Relations? The Office of Parent Relations provides families of current students with programs, services and information to enhance their understanding of the student experience and better support their student’s academic and social growth. Any questions or concerns students’ families have may be directed to the Office of Parent Relations via email at parent@jmu.edu or by phone. The JMU Parents and Family Facebook Page is also a great resource for families to stay in the loop and better assist their students. When is Family Weekend? Family Weekend will take place Sept. 30 – Oct. 2. For more info, check our website. What publications are available for family to stay connected during my time at JMU? The Office of Parent Relations has assembled the Madison Family Handbook to guide your family through the next few years. This handbook should have arrived in the mail to incoming students’ homes in May. A Madison Family Newsletter is also sent via email to all JMU families each month! What is Sibs and Kids Day? Sibs and Kids Day is a great opportunity for students to invite their 12 to 17-year-old sibling(s) to campus and show them what it’s like to be a Duke. Dining vouchers, a scavenger hunt, free t-shirts and a variety of activities are included in this awesome experience for future Dukes! This event is typically held in April, so keep an eye out for more information in early Spring! What if my family needs to update their contact information? We encourage families to keep their information up-to-date to ensure they receive university information via email and mail. If their information has changed recently, advise them to visit jmu.edu/parents and click the “Update Your Contact Information” link.
