What Intercollegiate teams do we have? 18 total - men’s sports include baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer and tennis; women’s offerings are basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, indoor and outdoor track and field, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball. What are our divisional affiliations? JMU is a member of NCAA Division I in all sports and in the process of transitioning to Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) competition. The Dukes joined the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2022 and will compete in the East Division with Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Marshall and Old Dominion. The Sun Belt West Division consists of Arkansas State, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State and Troy. JMU will play a full FBS football schedule in 2022 but is not bowl-eligible this season. A few JMU sports are not sponsored by the Sun Belt. Lacrosse will compete, instead, in the American Athletic Conference while field hockey will play an independent schedule in 2022. How does ticketing work? All sporting events are free for students with a JACard. The JMU Athletic Ticket Office is located inside the new Atlantic Union Bank Center on East Campus and is open from 9 a.m. --- 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. JMU’s athletic venues for all sports are among the best in Virginia and the Sun Belt. The new Atlantic Union Bank Center opened on East Campus in Nov. 2020 as the new home for basketball. The 8,500-seat venue completely transforms the JMU basketball experience, including for JMU students and opens new opportunities for events on campus like concerts, commencement and more. Bridgeforth Stadium, in the heart of campus, ranks as one of the best football facilities in the nation at our level. Soccer, lacrosse and track and field share a premier venue in our region at Sentara Park on Port Republic Road. Veterans Memorial Park next to Memorial Hall also ranks among the area’s top softball and baseball facilities. Volleyball and swimming and diving compete in Godwin Hall. Field hockey competes on East Campus, while tennis has both Hillside Courts and the East Campus Tennis Facility. Where can I get information about tryouts or walk on information? Approximately 450 student-athletes are proud to call themselves Dukes annually.
