We are a community committed to a sustainable future, and environmental stewardship is part of our culture. 71% of respondents to our Continuing Student Survey say it is important to them that JMU students make daily choices to help the environment. Every individual can make a difference for people and planet as a citizen, consumer, and member of organizations and communities. Collectively, we can make a positive impact. In your role as a new JMU community member, regardless of your major, you should take two actions before arriving on campus: read the following description of JMU’s environ- mental sustainability learning opportunities, and go to the website shown to plan how you will include environmental sustainability in your JMU experience. Understand the Opportunities The university fosters interdisciplinary education, literacy, and research in sustainability. In additional to environment-focused concentrations and minors, there are many sustainability courses open to undergrad- uates through General Education. Study abroad, community service, civic engagement, and research programs enable students from all majors to address environmental sustainabil-
