2024 JMU Transfer One Book

Parking & Transportation

Students have options when navigating around campus, the Harrisonburg community and beyond. Access information about bus schedules, regional transportation, ride-sharing, biking and walking and more at the Transportation website. Parking All vehicles parked on JMU property must be registered with Park- ing and Transit Services. Unregistered vehicles are subject to cita- tion. You can purchase a virtual parking permit online. Bus service The Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation provides free bus service for all JMU students. Bus routes begin at 7 a.m. and continue until about 11 p.m. on weekdays, with reduced schedules on weekends and holidays. The JMU Rideshare app pro- vides point-to-point directions, bus routing, and cycling and walk- ing routes. Several bus companies stop at Godwin Transit Center and provide transportation to local destinations, as well as airports and cities both in and out of state. Find out more at the Transporta- tion website. Biking JMU is a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly University. There are over 10 miles of bike lanes on campus. If there is no bike lane, bikes are permitted to use the full car lane in the direction of traffic. Additionally, bikes are permitted on sidewalks and multi-use paths everywhere on campus. JMU strongly recommends wearing a helmet when riding on campus.
