Getting involved!
Your JMU experience will be a collection of rela- tionships, transitions, challenges and hundreds of ways to join in outstanding education and dynamic campus life. JMU is an incredible community because of the choices for active participation in undergraduate research, community organizations, service, leadership roles, meaningful dialogue and so much more. Your choices will lead to greater self-un- derstanding and, thus, a more meaningful connection with others. Getting connected ◆ Actively participate in Weeks of Welcome to find events like Student Organization Night. ◆ Attend programs in your residence hall. This is a great way to meet people and have one-of-a-kind experiences. ◆ Consider getting a job on campus. ◆ Before joining an organization, consider your values and the expected time commitment to avoid getting over-involved. ◆ Attend at least one speaker or event on a topic with which you are unfamiliar. ◆ Assist a professor with research. ◆ Participate in adventure trips or intramural sports Residence hall programs Your RA and Hall Director give you opportunities to expe- rience a variety of activities. Hall programs are a great way to get to know people in your hall and make new friends. In recent years, over 45,000 students attended more than 2,000 programs in their halls. This means there is some- thing going on in your hall almost every night!
