Doing well academically
JMU wants you to succeed academically and has the resources to help you do so! Generally, for every one hour you spend in class, you should spend two or three hours studying for that class. Check out some of the resources JMU offers below to get you started: Libraries At JMU, the libraries support your academic and creative success. Four locations (Carrier Library, Educational Tech- nology and Media Center, Music Library and Rose Library) boast comfortable and safe places to learn, explore and
collaborate. Within the maker- spaces in Carrier and Rose, you can craft and invent with tech- nologies including 3-D printers, virtual reality, sewing machines and more. The libraries’ knowledgeable staff and faculty are eager to help you find the tools and resources you need. We are here to help you, whether at a service desk, via online chat, in a workshop or by appointment. As you progress in your major, you will meet your liaison librarian. An expert in your major research resources, your liaison librarian can provide you with personalized support in finding, evaluating and using information for assignments, research projects and more.
Residence Life academic support The Student Learning Initiatives Resource Center, located in Huffman Hall’s A-section, provides services and programs for you.
