Weeks of Welcome is your opportunity to take advantage of programs and entertainment designed to intro- duce you to the Madison culture, academic expectations, expose you to campus resources, reconnect with OPAs and help you meet other JMU students. Everything kicks off a few days before classes begin and runs through mid-Septem- ber. Learn more about what you can expect within this step. Dukes First Year The Dukes First Year Peer Mentor program is designed to provide individualized support for new students who will be paired with an upper-class mentor that will aid in their transition to JMU. The program focuses on building a strong connection with your mentor and becoming acclimated to the campus community. This experience can be tailored to meet individual needs, but will aim to connect students to various campus resources that will support your academics, promote health and well-being, and help students find their place in the JMU community. Student Organization Night There are more than 350 student organizations on campus. Start each semester by discovering student organizations for you. Career Ready Dukes Career Ready Dukes is a pre-Weeks of Welcome experience for new transfer students spon- sored by the University Career Center and University Advising. During this experience, you will connect your academic and career plans; build community through connections with peers, alumni and employ- ers; and set achievable goals for your success. All are welcome whether you are sure about your career path or are still developing your academic and career goals. More information available at jmu.edu/career.
