Academic Advising and Enrollment COMPLETE BY JUNE 17 At JMU, we want to make sure you are able to enroll in the classes you need to progress efficiently toward graduation. We dedicate a week in June for you to work with your academic advisor before enrollment opens on June 17. You must have completed the Orientation Reservation & Declaring a Major step to be assigned an academic advisor and to enroll. Academic Advising You will be assigned an academic advisor in your major, who will reach out to you through your JMU email by June 10 to begin the advising process. Your advisor will check in with you about your goals, review your previous coursework and help you determine which classes to take in your first semester. If you have questions related to academic advising before June 10, email the JMU Next Transfer Advising Team. Enrolling in Classes
Reviewing your schedule After you finish enrolling, you can follow up with your advisor to review your schedule and address any remain- ing advising and enrollment questions prior to attend- ing Summer Orientation. Though your advisor will not be at Summer Orientation, the JMU Next Transfer Advising Team will be available to answer any general advising questions you may have on your Summer Orientation day.
Class enrollment begins on June 17!
Class enrollment takes place in MyMadison and the time you are allowed to enroll is called your enrollment appointment. Transfer student enrollment appointments will open on June 17. For tips and tricks on how to enroll in classes using MyMadison, sign up to attend our Trans- fer Enrollment Webinar held Tuesday, June 16 from 7-8 p.m. on Zoom. We strongly encourage you to have your schedule finalized by June 24 so your enrollment is com- plete prior to first-year students starting their enrollment process.
