Student Schedule 8 – 8:45 a.m. Check-in

Student Success Center Receive your materials to prepare for your day. Use this time to connect your phone to the JMU-Official- Wireless network by using your eID and password. 9 – 9:40 a.m. University Welcome Wilson Hall Auditorium We look forward to officially welcoming you to the JMU community. You will learn more about academics and preparing for college. We will conclude with an introduction of the Orientation Peer Advisers. 10 – 10:50 a.m. Your College Home Check your folder label for location We expect you to make informed decisions about your academics. Based on your major, college leadership will share information about how to progress and be successful academically. At the conclusion of this session you will meet your Orientation Peer Adviser. The Quad Your OPA will be instrumental in helping you with your transition. They have tips and information on what life will be like as a JMU student, and give you the scoop on how to succeed academically and socially. 11:50 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch D-Hall Have your meal voucher ready for lunch! 12:45 – 1:25 p.m. JMtrUth Various Locations 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. Peer Discussion Your OPA will take you to the collaborative program from the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices and the Title IX Office. Within your group, you will discuss the concepts of consent and incapacitation and apply those definitions to different scenarios. 1:40 – 2:55 p.m. Academic Advising Check your folder label for location Meet with your academic advisor. You will discuss your responsibilities as an advisee, your goals for college, differences between high school and college-level coursework, credible academic resources and how an academic advisor can help you. There will also be an opportunity to discuss your fall schedule. 3:05 – 5 p.m. Wrap Up the Day Carrier Library Now that you’ve met with your academic advisor and finalized your fall class enrollment, there are just two more things to wrap up your day. Complete your program evaluation in Carrier Library and then pick up your newly minted JACard from the Quad.

Visit with an Army ROTC representative in Wilson 1014 from 8 – 8:30 a.m.  Browse the JMU Bookstore. Stock up on purple and gold attire from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Get financial aid information. Visit Financial Aid and Scholarships on the fifth floor of the Student Success Center from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Set up a campus banking account. Head to CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union in The Union from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Check out UREC. See what our campus recreation center has to offer from 1 – 6 p.m.  Take a campus tour. Finish the day with a stroll around campus and tour a showroom in one of our residence halls. Tours will depart from the Wilson Hall steps at 4:30 p.m.  Interested in Greek Life? Attend an optional session from 4:35 – 5 p.m. in Wilson Hall Auditorium after finishing your advising session and program assessment. Fraternity and sorority staff will share information on what Greek Life at JMU looks like, the paths to joining a Greek letter organization and what to expect.
