Actions matter. We are a community committed to a sustainable future. JMU incorpo- rates sustainability and environmental literacy in teaching, research, operations and outreach. Envi- ronmental stewardship is part of our culture, and collectively, we can make a positive impact. How will you act to help achieve our vision of an envi- ronmentally literate community whose members act individually and collectively as model stewards of the natural world? Learn more. Select academic experiences that will develop your environmental stewardship knowledge and reasoning skills. ◆ Enroll in a General Education course about the environment. See Cluster Three on Page 13. ◆ Delve deeper by taking other environment and sustainability courses offered by many academic units at JMU. “Community Service-Learning edu- cates students and inspires action about sustainable development. Our Alter- native Breaks partner with communi- ties locally, nationally and globally to address issues and seek solutions to chal- lenges like climate change, loss of biodi- versity and conserving threatened hab- itats and species. Students also explore and take on these vexing issues when they enroll in faculty-led service-learn- ing courses.” - Steve Grande, Ph.D., Director, Com- munity Service-Learning
