New Dukes Abroad Join our New Dukes Abroad program and earn three credits before stepping foot into a classroom! The Exploration of Migration and Culture in Germany is a competitive study abroad opportunity designed for new Dukes and will take place July 24 - Aug. 3 in Frankfurt an der Oder and Berlin. In addition to learning about history, culture and support of refugees in Poland and Germany, this program will allow you to make connections with other new Dukes before classes start. Madison Orientation Adventure Trip MOAT is a three-night, four-day adventure program designed for new JMU students. Move into your residence hall early, then meet up with welcoming and knowledgeable student trip leaders to tent camp, rock climb, hike and canoe in the Shenan- doah Valley. No experience is necessary! It’s a great way to make connections with other students before classes start. MOAT will take place Aug. 18 - 21 (more dates may be added). D-MAD (Dukes Making a Difference) Prior to Weeks of Welcome, connect with students and faculty to make a real difference while immersing yourself in an unforgettable experience and addressing challenging societal problems. No experience necessary, come ready to learn and serve together! Registration costs include transportation and food. Get all the details at jmu.edu/csl.
